DBC, Deafhood and other Deaf issues

I read all the debates over DBC, Deafhood and other Deaf issues for a month. I decided to remain neutral on any organizations over sensitive issues.  I am not going to jump into conclusions anymore. I simply supported ASL with babies w/ and w/o cochlear implant with any future (either Deaf or Hearing) parents. I simply wanted to see future deaf children to receive the fair education as well as hearing children’s education. I STILL believe ASL will improve the babies to connect Oralism and English written as well as long as they receive best education. That is up to parents’ choices. Most important are Parents and siblings needed to build the relationship with their any deaf sibling instead being “left out” like a pet.  I just simply sit back and watch Organization’s movement closely like a microscope since they are brand new organizations.

Many deaf and hearing people have rights to choose whether they want to support DBC, ASL Think Tank or other new organizations. It’s Freedom of Choices. All organizations usually made their mistakes. Nobody is perfect like FEMA mishandled Hurricane Katrina victims and Bush Administrations misjudged WMD information on Iraq. History always showed the past mistakes in no matter what as long as we overcome the mistakes.

I read Tara’s final story which it posted few weeks ago by Deaf Womyn Pride. Tara’s story inspired me a lot because she grew up hard life by adopted parent.  Child Protective Services SHOULD handles the adopted parents properly. Tara had been struggled through communication abused and being neglected by abused parents and other services like other deaf victims.  I applauded Deaf Womyn Pride and others rescued Tara and gave her a second chances with education. Tara’s ASL and education showed remarkable improvement under Virginia School for the Deaf. I believe Tara will have brightest futures ahead of her.

Please support Communicate Abused/ Oralism Victims like Tara’s. We need UNITED Deaf Community as well. I am not worrying about AGB’s anymore since they are no longer exist to me. You can agree or disagree with me. I simply expressed my opinions.

  1. How do you make a fearless decisions to the hearing parents’ choice? You are walking on thin ice. Yes, we all deaf people knows ASL are number one. They don’t, if you want to change then go make a bills right and the Government will laugh at you! You are destroying the deaf babies future, but educated and help them put ASL first language then they can do whatever they make the decision. Just pray for the best of deaf child under hearing parents. Simple.

What do you mean I am destroying the babies future?

  3. How do I say this? Rogue, you need to read more careful before you made some comments about it. Most hearing parents likely to put deaf children in a mainstream school but of course in a special class for deaf students only and they will be taught in a basic sign language not fluent ASL. I know for sure deaf parents will send deaf children to deaf institute where they will be fluent in ASL.

As for DBC, it is a weak organization. Problem with your term “UNITED deaf community” is that many of them aren’t well educated and communication tends to break down between two parties.

Not every biological and adopt parents are perfect when it comes to raise a deaf children. It makes more difficult for parents to decide what is a best for the deaf children even it is right or wrong. They are humans. I’m sure they did the same thing for disability children as well. Look at black population they are far worse than we are as today. They are in struggling and knowing that they have no future.

We simple do the best as we can and enjoy our lifestyle even great or shitty job. Think positive and focus your goal to accomplish something in your meaningful life. Whatever happens in the past and you need to move on. Past is past. Nothing cannot be done and no time machine to fix your past. It defines as who you are today and look forward to a better life.

  4. Rogue,

You mentioned that you consider joining the Peace Corps. I wonder if it is hard for a deaf person to join the Peace Corps because of communication between english and foreign. What kind of work deaf can do for the Peace Corps? Can they help foreign deaf people? Is it safe or dangerous depending on where they send you or you can decide where you would like to go? Do they accepted a divorced parent with child support payments? My friend is divorced father and I would like to join the Peace Corps someday.

  5. By destroying hearing parents. Don’t you take it easy on hearing who already brainwashed by Dr.’s false recommendation.

Sorry, I didn’t respond immediately since I had errand things to do today. My time is Eastern Standard Time and I have hard time to keep up with comments who may be from Pacific Standard Time or Late night person. I am very cautious with comments since some person used different names with same ip address. Someone took my name and used Steve’s comment in another blog under Deaf Cipmunk.

    Tony,

I know you may have disagreed with me about “United Deaf Community”. I have no problem with it. I am not involved with DBC organization as I stated I am remaining neutral with deaf issues. DBC organization has a right to run their own choices. The main reason, I said United Deaf Community like you, me and others with excellence education backgrounds can brainstorm together with the ideas, philosophies and other stuffs. We can overcome the obstacles. I know some of Deaf people who have low education which was not their fault. It was depend where they grew up.

Any Parents or Adopted parents are human. However, Disabilities children and adults are human being as well as normal people too! Nobody is perfect. Remember, Iraq War US Veterans comes home with their “new” disabilities and you cannot afford to mess around with US Veterans. US Veterans fought the war for this country’s sakes. If people gave hard times on Disabled US Veterans and they will fight all the way up to the Capitol for Disabilities’ rights.

Currently, I am working on to move foward my life.

    Eddie,

Yes, Peace Corps do have Deaf education program for Africa, South America and Asia which sponsored by Gallaudet University. Well, Peace Corp will cover the child supports depend on how much per month. Peace Corps is making sure you do not have many debts from your finances like credit card, mortgages etc etc. I only have car and child support with me. Eventually, I will sell my car if Peace Corps accepted me. You must live another country for three years without returning the states. You must live with same shelter with poor people which I do not mind.

    Steve,

I am not taking easy on hearing or deaf parent who was brainwashed by any Dr’s false recommendation. That’s what my parents made a bad choices but I received excellent education when I grew up. I think future Deaf children should received excellent education as well.

FYI, Your comment was posted under Deafchipmunk blog and used under my name by Anonymous person.

  7. You got a good point about excellent education. So everyone is missing the points. ASL for deaf babies and fight for deaf’s good education. That would be a seperated things that I would support this both very much.

Barry Sewell jumped the gun to catch warning the audience that he considered if DBC core members seem to be a mirror to reflect deceptively to the world.

For example, the powers of reflective surfaces to captivate and deceive are also featured strongly in such myths as Narcissus and Snow White. One of the many reasons for this belief is that the mirror is believed to reflect part of the soul, therefore, breaking the mirror will break part of the soul. His ideas sound like religion.

MZ brought up it a mixed message- sometimes it is good but it isn’t as good as it claims because parts of it are just true. You see that MZ forced DBC to become fully transparent.
