My opinion is that oral and Deaf parents want their deaf child to speak verbally but I think it is better to teach ASL first to their deaf baby until about 3 years old. He grows up and can use ASL and speaks then write English. If parents decide to have their baby implanted CI then should use ASL first then learn to speak after 3 years old.
