Yes, Cotton Mathers was a misguided preacher for Puritans community. After John Winthrop passed away, Massachusetts Bay Colony turned into worst as led to Witchcraft trials etc etc. John Winthrop Jr became Governor of Connecticut and he also wanted to include Long Island as well.

Your statement is perfect correct! Several ex-Puritans were exiled to Rhode Island and Long Island due to The Separatists (Puritans) were pretty hypocritical.

Salem Witchcraft was a horrible indecent happened with full of innocent people. Deafread and DeafTV are sort of reminding me “Witchcraft” but Deaf community are still learning each other because we came from isolate world for many years. . Assumptions and accusations each other will not get us anywhere.

You are right Dutch community from New Amsterdam (Now New York City) dislikes Puritans. That’s why my Downing ancestors became Dutch Reform religion after Puritans.

The Seperatists (Purtains) were pretty hyprocritical among themselves on the issue of religious freedom. They were more interested in imposing their own values and beliefs.

Not many people realized that the Purtains (Seperatists as what the Dutch people called them) had the highest percentage of children borne in wedlock, not the so-called sacred marriage. The Purtians usually dressed up in colorful clothes as opposite to the widespread beliefs of dull black and white clothes.

How sad of the Purtains ########## the infamous witch trials since the New England region of the 1600s had the highest literacy rate in the entire world at that time. They still fell to such supernaturalism and gender role oppressions.

In the truth, the handful of accusers – male heirachy want to force many widowed females into submission and gave up their prized possessions. The female widows were not really dumb for marrying another male due to the given regional laws for the head of household – male member, have the right to take up the property from their newly-married wifes and sell them. So the male heirachy (msp.) had to invent stories about female witches to stir up hysteria in the New England region.

I would love to visit Salem, MA someday and witness the “witch” decal on police cars. No questions, I admire Anne Hutchinson for fighting back against the so-called hyprocritical establishment in name of the ############.
