I watched the Deaf TV and wanted to make comment since I do not have my own vlog yet.
Give Jack’s Eyes a break! Jack Barr done many things for you with comedy vlogs even he updated about DBC convention at Milwaukee. He made one simple mistake as he wasn’t the only one done “Shooting AGB’s grave!” vlog. I know Jack Barr did not intend to encourage to be violence against AGB. He had done many things for you. Don’t drive Jack’s Eyes away from Blog/ Vlog over his simple mistake. Believe me, Jack Barr wont do it again as he learned his mistake. Everyone made mistakes, no big deal.
Aidan Mack was absolute right that hearing community done the same thing as Deaf community. Hearing community is far worse than you guys! You should be happy. Look at reality shows such as MTV’s Real World, VH1’s I love New York, Survivors and other reality shows, whatever you named it! They showed some violence front of the world TV audiences. It is so damn humiliate. Hollywood made lot of violence movies as well, too!
I always said NEVER NEVER mixed religions and politics together! Can you explain to me why Christians, Muslim and Judaism involved many wars in over 2000 years? Do you think it is OKAY for any religions to promote violence front of the world? No, I practically don’t think so!
That’s why Quakers are against the WAR and VIOLENCE!

I think you fail to see that, IF hearing parents of deaf babies see that video…. what message are we trying to send them? We hate AGbell and oralist…. Is that going to educate the parents of deaf children??
C’mon.. we need to stop focusing all of our engery at AGbell and instead, how CAN we attract hearing parents to include both language for their babies…..
Attacking agbell doesn’t send a message, it turns them off and they won’t even be interested in hearing how DBC can help.

Jack Barr is one of outspoken leader of DBC therefore no leaders wouldn’t do such a thing like Jack did. I’ve warned him not to bully at them!!! So he did!
Now, demographics have changed. 20 years ago,deaf employment rate was 72%. We had so many events in the 80s and 90s. All went downhill which translates into almost 80% welfare reciptents like SSI/SSDI today! Europeans are at 23% on a government assistance. I went to SSA office and ask if Jack Barr recieves SSA benefits.
The followers of Jack are on SSA like his castmembers on the scene. Most are uneducated and only stupid people would dare to do stpuid things.
Deaf culture is now doomed. If everyone cares enough about deaf culture, they should have a full time job, no exceptions! Any jobs! Leaders must take responsibility to emphanize the importance of jobs for the deaf Americans. They haven’t done shit!
European deaf are well dressed and they work harder to have fun! Almost every vloggersin the USA looks crappy like they haven’t taken a bath!
We can do better than that!

I think you misunderstood what I said. It was NOT all about violence against AGB! Jack Barr never mentioned “DBC” in his video!
Jack Barr did NOT intend to harm or violence against AGB organization. He simply thought it was a joke but he made a bad choice!. Her made all the blogs/ vlogs within only one simple mistake over a year. I think Jack Barr tried to interpret “Shooting the AGB’s grave as “End of Audism” not intending to attack Oralism. I know Jack Barr should have get a better idea but one mistake. No big deal!
Can you explain to me about South Park, Saturday Night Live and Mad TV promoted stupid jokes with violence against celebrities and global leaders? You seems stating that Deaf community are not allow to express their feelings about anything with sense of humor?

The point is that, Jack Barr is the face of the DBC, he represents the DBC and whats more, if you go to his website, he is a DBC PR machine. Look at his other Vlogs. Its mostly DBC and other personal vlogs have been removed prior to this movie. So people still assume and will assume that he works for the DBC.
If it was John nobodydeaf Doe, that nobody knows or is afflicated with any organization, made this movie then there would not be a big uproar about this, but Barr is the face of the DBC and with the recent conflict the deaf community just had….. I think common sense prevails.

Jack Barr did not say he speaking for DBC at all!
But Barry Sewell, aka, dr hocokan is trying to stir up the Deaf community. It is Barry and his group trying to divide the Deaf community and hates successful group because he seems to have bad life in the past.
Barry’s blog, “Condemm Hate Crime” reflect who dr hocokan is in all his blog. He hates successful leaders because he is a failure. Ask people who know Barry in Idaho.
People need to learn who dr hockan, a fake!

Wait and see, what DBC and Jack Barr will have their explaination. I think Shooting AGB’s grave issue might be not fair for Jack to being set it up as scapegoat because he is DBC PR machine. Other people should come forward. Things will prevails as well.
You noticed Jack Barr done many things with funny vlogs about interperter and OGO VRS as he created it himself. Something odd about recent vlog like he wasnt’t himself, who knows.

Hates Crimes means KKK, Neo Nazi, Black Panthers, any Gangsters are REAL hate crimes like violence against innocent people.

In the past, Jack had shown a strong dislike toward AGBell people, though it was the first time he used a violent symbol. In the past, a hearing mom of three deaf kids with cochlear implants was attacked viciously in his vlog. In another vlog, he made fun of deaf oralists attending an AGBell conference. His stance against oralists and oral c.i. users is well known.
Remember it wasn’t too long ago when a DBC leader called AGBell people the Nazis. The concept isn’t new.
It doesn’t matter if Jack didn’t mention DBC in his vlog. He is already a well-known representative of DBC, so he carries more responsibilities. It gets very complicated if one makes statements contrary to DBC’s centric mission. DBC loses integrity if the DBC leaders and members are using derogatory comments. against oral and c.i. users.
Deaf Culture values deafhood as a cultural and linguistic minority while AGBell views deafness as a medical pathology. There will be constant conflicts as Deafhood is the opposite polarization of deafness. Understandably, many Deaf people don’t view oralism and cochlear implants with enthusiasm. This is very delicate, but I think it’s important that Deaf people be true to their beliefs, whether we agree with them or not.

Charles, different people have different interpretations of hate crimes.
Chris, there is no plot. I get the impression Mike hopes to get Deaf people paranoid by repeating that message.. and apparently it works.
Barry is a strong ASL user, in the seventh Deaf generation. You may not see it, but Barry is doing this for the integrity of Deaf Community by exposing the facts.
Eventually DBC finally acknowledged that it does practice Deafhood. If it wasn’t for our persistence, they wouldn’t admit it.

Chris, if you had read my blogs, all I demanded is that DBC be fully transparent.. sharing with the Deaf Community that it does practice deafhood long with bilingualism. It’s the lack of transparency that bothers me as that won’t help the Deaf Community nor the organization. DBC had done that, so now everybody knows where it stands. That’s all.
As long as Deaf people are fine with Deafhood being practiced within DBC, I don’t see what the problem is. I have no beef with Paddy Ladd’s version of Deafhood. In fact, I’m now reading the book.
I don’t know what Barry’s background is. All I know is what Barry had described so far is also what Deaf Pundit, Anne Marie, Amy Cohen Efron and I experienced inside the DBC before we quit/were booted out. If you don’t want to listen to Barry, that’s your prerogative. However, what do you say if four other well known bloggers/vloggers with established credibility acknowledged going through the same thing?
What is more important is that the Deaf Community receive full honesty from its Deaf leaders. Don’t you think Deaf Community deserve the truth or do you feel it was right for the Deaf leaders to deceive Deaf Community?

Sounds like some people went overboard in literary license. Making a point can go too far.
We would like to be seen as balanced and fair-minded, but most of us do have somewhat anti-oral and anti-CI thoughts and we should be able to own up to that. At the same time, we should be able to admit that others have a point. Along with that goes simple respect for others that we disagree with even very, very much.
What we need to be careful with is how we influence others and what these people might do as a result. Less stable people might resort to violence or extreme language that alienates more than it helps support our cause.
Just an example: the other side, AGBell, made a mistake in how they informed Jenny Botero, and as a result were embarrassed when Botero stormed out of the Marriott Hotel and attacked a child and a peaceful leafletter on a public walkway. Then she continued her rampage indoors and had a Deaf family thrown out of a public exhibition hall.
Do we need Deaf people acting like that, even for the cause of ASL in all early childhood programs? Hence we need to be careful in how we influence each other.

How is it that everybody Barry disagrees with suddenly becomes an important leader in DBC, and therefore Ella did something wrong?
How many leaders does the DBC have, anyway? How many of them speak for Ella?
Once again, Barry has gained attention for himself by blowing things out of all proportion. And DR has once again allowed it.
MZ, you lose credibility when you both support Barry, and are one of those in charge of approving his posts on DR. You are one who benefits more and more when the Deaf World is in flames because of him.
No wonder the infighting continues without DBC really even being involved in it at all! DBC has been repeatedly slandered by a man with a long history of lies. Ask the people who knew him at the Idaho School for the Deaf!
MZ should resign from DR or be booted out for her repeated poor judgement! Barry should be banned!
Maybe then things will finally calm down, and we can get on with repairing the damage they’ve caused.

I guess you support his shooting his shotgun at a fake gravestone with the picture of AGBell in a sacred cemetery where dead bodies of beloved are laid in rest. I don’t see any condemnation on his vlog. I also don’t see any criticism on the use of Nazi symbols on the fake gravestone.

I find that quite telling.
Think what the hearing parents feel when they read this vlog. Remember we are on the public stage, with our words and actions examined closely.
It’s not me that you need to worry. It’s the hearing parents of deaf babies’ and chidlren that you need to be concerned.

Alright. I guess you haven’t seen the countless reactions to Jack’s vlog in DVTV.
If I do not care about deaf babies, then I wouldn’t have spent hundreds of hours setting up DBC before it got hijacked by Deafhood. After I resigned, went ahead to establish a neutral clearinghouse information site on deaf babies/children and bilingualism. I could ask you what have you done to help deaf babies and children, but what’s the point? It’s the hearing parents we need to think of.
It’s also obvious people here are losing the big picture: making a good impression to the hearing parents of deaf babies and children.
I can see that there is no sincere attempt to carry a constructive dialogue here. Since it’s a waste of energy to talk to hostile people not receptive in improving the image of Jack and DBC with the hearing parents of deaf babies/children, I shall bid you all farewell and have a nice evening. Ciao

If DBC or CAD condemned Jack…we have NO right to know about it. It is none of our business. Jack did not have to remove his video but he listened to the community and removed his video. If Jack acted as one of the leader of DBC, then he should not represent the community by taking tax payer’s expense. I am deaf and I work 3 jobs to make a living. SSI in California gets 900 a month is not enough to live and play. Most of my friends are on SSI and not able to do things for fun and stuff. WTF. They’re damn lazy. 80% deafies in America are lazy! Just like Jack Barr. SSI is a public information. All I have to do is to walk up and ask. He gets $1354 a month on SSDI. He can drive and walk and shoot AGB Monument. He’s able enough to work and play. Do we want to see a leader to set an example to our deaf kids? Come on!
I’m making a point here! You cannot bully any deaf organizations. Deaf Community is lot weaker than in the past and I’m certain that everyone agrees with it. AG Bell has gotten stronger and smarter.
DBC is doomed so does NAD.

I would listen Joey Baer, Barbi Digi, and few others that set their example on principle for our community. That’s the people we should set an example to our deaf children. Am I making sense?
Almost half of DBC leaders are on SSA. 78% of Protestors at Milwalkee are on welfare! That’s why reporters from newspapers, etc refuse to side on DBC. Simple as that. AGBell’s demographic holds 90% employment rate and proven their track record than ASL community. Reporters like winners not losers!
Does that tell you something? I work for UPS part time, I work In n Out Burgers and Newspaper deleivery to live on. I made $2400 a month. Better than $900 and that means I’m proud Deaf American who can comtribute back to society.
Therefore, I’m setting an example to these kids! You guys can GET A JOB and there’s jobs out there waiting for you.

You are more interested in crucifying Deaf people who offer constructive suggestions for DBC to improve its ways. You don’t care how this mob mentality DBC people show to concerned Deaf citizens may appall and turn off hearing parents of deaf babies and children. Think how they feel.. seeing all the negative attacks DBC people launch on other Deaf people, including calling someone very evil
These horrified hearing parents would want to snatch their kids away from angry Deaf people and run toward AGBell who greet them with smiles and positive atmosphere.
It’s all about marketing. One wants to attract the hearing parents…. emphasizing on the positive benefits. Show happiness. Make the hearing parents understand why bilingualism will help their deaf kids.
You don’t get it that you are already doing a lot of damage with your negative and hostile words.
I have no time for this kind of toxicity, either. Anger and hostility drain a person. I rather stay with people who will concentrate on the postives, working for better and healthy goals.

Charles-
I was not pleased when Jack Barr was using gun in the video and when I got the impression that some people had contacted him…I had faith that everything would be taken care of. I knew Jack would be sensitive and listen to our community. I was right about him after all.
Aidan repeatedly informed to viewers that Jack will made another video soon to answer some concern. I was happy when I heard about it. I became more upset when some others remain bickering at him and they would not stop it even the video was already removed many and many hours ago. They wanted so badly for DBC core team to come forth and condemn Jack in front of the whole wide world. This is so evil to me. I am sorry for being too harsh but I wanted to put end to this. What get me is seeing moderators getting pretty eye wink from Tayler to take sides. It is unethical period. I accept disagreement and I do not expect everyone to agree with me but I just could not tolerate seeing others trying to bring destruction while our community are making some improvements. I never had any chance of seeing Jack Barr’s “AGBell Funeral” vlog.
I was very disappointed to find out that this video was no longer available.
That is pure censorship tactic to remove the video no matter the vlogger hirself doing this removal.
Hell with political correctness! People have the right to view Jack Barr’s satire of AGBell without anyone making ruckus about his vlog piece.
Of course, Jack Barr should be not removed from the roster of deaf vloggers at all.

Don’t be apologizing. Aidan is correct about Jack Barr. I already knew Jack Barr did not intend to harm anything as bad joke as backfired. I am glad to hear that Jack Barr is working on new Vlog to explain himself about this Shooting AGB situation sooner. People are entitled to express their opinions and their frustrations but NEVER make any assumptions about Jack Barr until his real explanation. I would not make any assumptions on anybody. Everyone is human being as imperfection people, haha
I made stupidest mistakes and learned hard ways as I overcame my obstacles like everybody. On the bright side, you know who the TRUTH here is!

Most Recent, Jack’s degrading behavior is starting to show more til he finally uses the swastikas in his own vlog. It’s like Jack is on the edge .. boiling bubbly inside of him and ready to “boom”!! It is a bad sign of Jack’s behavior and hurts the DBC and the other Deaf agencies. I completely understand his feelings however Jack goes over the line too far. Be careful Jack.

I do not want your opinion here. You are a moderator. As for PR…Jack Barr has already REMOVED his video many many and many hours ago. It is not there anymore. Go back and check for yourself. Jack plans to show up soon. Let him have his say before you can make any judgement about him. Please expect DBC leaders and members like me will make many more mistakes in the following year and after. Why? We are human beings but we will always make sure to have a room for improvement. You make mistakes every second of the day….everyday…every week…every month…every year. Ok? You are very far away from perfect too.

My take on this is Jack Barr has opened the door and the process of getting DBC identified as a hate group. His vlog clearly shows the ASL community’s never ending yearning to pick, using the most brutal methods available to them, on people who’ve made themselves free from the claws of ASL.
The hearing folks are going to get this very understanding of DBC’s quest for using violence as a message. And they’re going to be pushing to get DBC identified as a hate and maybe as a terrorist group.

Penny, I am here as an individual blogger. You don’t have to read my comments, however, you do not have the right to order me around. I acknowledge that everybody, including me, do make mistakes many times. Nobody is perfect. However, even we need to take responsibility for our mistakes and try to fix the mistakes.
I generally don’t block people from commenting in my blog. Regular readers know this. Even some who disagree with me bash me in my own blog and these comments are still published. It’s with rare exceptions that I block some commenters and it’s usually due to profanity, a profound disrespect or a refusal to carry a constructive dialogue, meaning engaged in a pointless flaming war. That’s how I operate my blog.. I don’t censor my blog like some bloggers, only allowing positive comments.
By the way, since when is Truth a destroyer? If people don’t want the truth to come out, it usually means the truth isn’t good news. Is it best to lie and promote deception to the Deaf Community or tell the truth, reducing confusion and improving transparency? It appears people have different opinions about that.
I stated that the inner core DBC team practices a strong groupthink, meaning all must conform to one thinking, with no due process, no election, no say, etc. You can check with the other former DBC members and ask them how they feel being a part of the inner core DBC team. You may be surprised to hear that I am not the only person to feel this way, not by a long shot. No wonder the moderates left, either by resigning or being booted out.
However, this doesn’t apply to DBC in general or Deafhood… just the inner core members (a very small group) alone. So please don’t confuse the three groups together. Like I said, truth is not always pleasant to hear.

You are right about one thing. I can’t order you around because Tayler is your boss. He gave you a permission to abuse our community by playing two roles. I am not the only one who is concerned about this. Yet You still refused to listen to our community and enjoyed your power trip. You really do love it. Jack is WAY far much better than you. He immediately fixed his mistake and removed the video and you are still not satisfied with it. You kept going to some bloggers and talked about Jack. Wow!

I want to commend Jack Barr for making an apology to the Deaf Community.
He also shared his very painful story and I could feel his deep pain. I am glad he had the courage to step forward and share his story. The world needs to hear the abuses he endured as an oral student.

I would like to add one more thing here. I thought about many commenters who brutally accused Jack for making a violence film. I laughed when I watched his film (I can’t lie here) because he targeted Mr. Bell and their system for abusing million of Deaf children. At the same time I did not think that using gun or filmed at the cemetry was a good taste. Last night I thought about how some Deaf people scolded Jack without explaining to him why the video should be removed and if he could make another film but intead they accusd him and calling him some names. I thought to myself and laughed because I know without question ask that most commenters…not all of them and myself do see many Rated movies. R movies always included some violence in the film. I know commenters won’t admit it but I thought how sacrastic played here lately. It is quie fascinating that they felt they had right to accuse him and yet seeing Rated movies.
